Braddan Plant Hire provides professional CPA Crane Hire and CPA Contract Lift services with mobile cranes ranging from 60–100 t. All lifts are carried out under full CPA Contract Lift terms, supported by qualified operators working to pre-designed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Every lift is delivered in accordance with BS7121 to ensure full compliance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) when using mobile cranes.

What is CPA Crane Hire?
Under the terms of a Standard CPA Crane Hire Contract, the safe operation of the crane and the safety and welfare of its operator, full liability for the crane, operator, lifting operations as set out in RAMS are the customer’s responsibility.
It is up to the customer to supply the Appointed Person who has the knowledge, experience and understanding of all aspects of the lifting operation and who will be responsible for all elements of the planning and execution of the lift.
The customer is also responsible for ground conditions at the berthing location and access/egress to and from site.
The hirer must:
- Carry out all work in accordance with BS7121.
- Provide third party liability and hired-in plant insurance or pay a 25% damage waiver.
- Plan and execute the lift and operate a safe system of work.
- Check the credentials of the crane hire company personnel and certifications.
- Check qualifications and competences.
The crane owner has a duty to:
- Provide a crane that is properly maintained, tested and certified.
- Provide a competent crane operator.

What is CPA Contract Hire?
Under the terms of a standard CPA Contract Lift, the safe operation of the crane and the safety and welfare of the operator are the crane owner’s responsibility.
It is up to the crane owner to supply an Appointed Person who will be responsible for all aspects of planning and execution of the lift.
Braddan Plant Hire’s contract lift teams are fully compliant with Site Operating Procedures to mitigate any risks and operate safely.
The crane owner is responsible for:
- Supplying the “Appointed Person”.
- Planning the lift and operating a safe system of work (via Method Statement).
- Organisation and control of the lifting operation.
- Ground conditions (private customers only).
The hirer should:
- Specify that the Crane Owner is to supply the “Appointed Person”.
- Allow access to the site for a full survey to be performed for the Risk Assessment and Method Statement.
- Supply accurate information of the load to be lifted.
- Advise the Crane Owner of any potential hazards not evident from a site inspection.
